Every avid traveler – i.e. Basically every Cats traveler there ever was, will at some point be drawn towards Porto, as it’s one of Europe’s most charming cities. Its decadent style welcomes an exciting atmosphere, but on top of that, Porto boasts an incredible cultural life on the shore of the Douro River, has its very own wine philosophy, art galleries and extravagant cuisine. Only good vibes allowed and, of course, this city holds the keys to some exceptional party plans! No wonder Porto was crowned European Best Destination 2017… And our Porto hostel is located in the heart of the city.

We’ve carefully designed our rooms for two main purposes: to adapt to your every need and TO ROCK YOUR WORLD. Cats Porto has rooms for all kinds of travellers: solo travellers and groups (from private rooms up rooms with ten beds!). All the rooms are equipped with a private bathroom, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, individual plug sockets… designed down to the last detail. Wind down in Cats, and regain your strength to get back out there and revel in Porto’s awesomeness… after all, the city deserves your utmost attention.

Our hostel is located in the heart of Porto’s historic center. As such, it’s just a few minutes’ walk from the city’s most important monuments, such as the Palácio da Bolsa or the Sé Cathedral. In particular, we’re on Rua do Cativo (26 to 28), right next to the incredible Cathedral, which is a World Heritage Site, and very close to the Douro River. During your stay, forget about transportation – with the exception of Portugal’s famous “anti-hill” funicular. From here you can walk everywhere!

HOW TO GET TO CATS HOSTEL PORTO
Our hostel is located in the heart of Porto’s historic center. As such, it’s just a few minutes’ walk from the city’s most important monuments, such as the Palácio da Bolsa or the Sé Cathedral. From the airport, take the line E (purple). Change at Trindade station to line D (yellow) and get off at São Bento station. Read the instructions “How to get to Cats Porto Hostel from the train station” below for more.

From Campanhã Station

Leaving the train station, you will find Campanhã metro station. Any of the lines (green, red, purple, orange or blue) will take you to Trindade station. Change there to the line D (yellow) and get off at São Bento station. Follow the instructions below.

From São Bento Station

Five minutes walk away. Turn left when you leave the station, and left again towards Rua do Loureiro, until you reach Rua de Cimo de Vila. You will see Rua do Cativo and our tile building on the left.

Leaving the station, turn left towards Rua de Santos Pousada. Continue on R. de Coelho Neto towards Largo do Padrão, and then turn right to R. de Santo Ildefonso. Take the first street on the left towards Praça dos Poveiros. And then continue on R. de Santo Ildefonso and R. de Cimo de Vila until you find a fountain on the left. You will recognize then Cats Porto Hostel and its characteristic tile facade.

I lived in this hostel for a total of 10 nights. I liked everything. Spacious rooms, comfortable beds, shower and toilet right in the room. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking.
I wanted to stay at the nearby hostel but they had age restrictions so they recommended Cats. I liked everything, silent doors! I stayed at 6 bedroom room, it had it's own 2 bathrooms. Clean. Fresh air all the time. The safety box is spacious, can fit your luggage. You need padlock. Friendly, helpful staff. Great music. I had to leave early at night to catch a 3m bus at 3am to the airport. The staff was there all the time. The bus was on time. All was smooth. Next time definitely Cats.
I have nothing but good things to say about Cats. I wish I stayed more nights (instead of switching to another hostel just for a change of scenery). Super chill. But facilities. Paid coffee maker. Cool bar and rooftop balcony—Saw the sunset my first night here. Staff were incredible. 2 thumbs up.
